Drafty windows before winter? Recaulking beats replacing
Every fall we get the same call from Kanata to Orléans: cold air leaking around windows that are barely ten years old. In most cases the windows are fine — the exterior caulk sealing them to the frame has dried, shrunk and cracked.
Recaulking removes the failed sealant and applies a new flexible bead rated for Canadian freeze-thaw cycles. It's a fraction of the cost of new windows and usually done in a single visit.
Signs you need it: visible cracks or gaps in the caulk line, curtains moving on windy days, or a cold stripe you can feel with your hand around the frame.
Book it before the first hard frost — caulk needs temperatures above freezing to cure properly. A whole-home pass starts at $180.
