The PDI finishing checklist every Ottawa buyer should know
Your Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) is the best moment to document every finishing defect in a new build. After possession, the 30-day and year-end Tarion forms are your next chances — and they come fast.
Walk room by room in daylight. Check walls for nail pops and paint misses, run a hand along baseboards for gaps, open and close every door to feel for rubbing or latching problems, and inspect tubs, showers and sinks for missing or cracked silicone.
Take dated photos of everything and keep a single list. Builders respond better to one organized deficiency list than to scattered complaints.
If the builder's timeline slips, an independent handyman can finish the list quickly. Our inspection-list service starts at $250 and gives you a written, priced document you can also use with the builder.
